She has received art education at Gerlesborg's Art School in Bohuslän, the Art School Paletten in Stockholm and attended art- courses at Väsby Konsthall.
She began to paint more seriously in 1988 and then it took off. She sees exhibitions more as a way to develop herself than to advertise her art. She is versatile - over the years many roads have been tried - textile, enamel, clay. Marita paints primarily in oil, though having a slight resistance towards that in the beginning, as her mother used oil in her paiting and there was always a turpentine smell all throughout the house.
She rarely paints directly off a motif but rather searches for pictures and experiences in her memory that are then transformed onto the canvas. But she likes to draw and always carries something for that purpose with her.
The motifs change from nature to faces, the color scale as well.
A great interest is music and more specifically the accordion that she plays at folk music festivals.
