The Cable Factory was built during 1939-1954 and was at that time the largest building in Finland. In the 1960s Nokia set up production here until 1980s when they shut down the plant. During a transitional period the empty spaces were rented out to artists amongst others and there were serious plans to demolish at least parts of the factory. In order to preserve the factory artists and other influential cultural persons established the Pro Kaapeli association. The name of Rocca Flea derives from the nearby river Flebeo, later called Flea, and it appears already in the 12th century documents. Damaged during many conflicts, the fortress was restored by one of the most powerful Roman Emperors Frederick II around 1242 and later several times renovated by for example Biordo Michelotti, the lord of Perugia. During the Renaissance the Rocca became the residence of the papal legates and, as a consequence of it, part of the interiors were decorated with frescoes. The architect of this imaginative Swiss style villa was Ferdinand Boberg, one of Sweden's greatest architects in the beginning of the 20th century. Many of his works can be found in Stockholm as for example the residence of the Swedish government Rosenbad, the Thielska Art Gallery, Waldemarsudde -the museum of Prince Eugen and the NK department store.

Our exhibition in London will have mysterious surroundings. The Crypt of St Pancras' Church was used for funerals in the middle of the 19th century and became the last resting place for a total of 557 people - hence the theme of our exhibition.

In 2002 an art gallery was opened in the crypt.  With its underground passages it creates a very special atmosphere and different light settings for the artworks on display.

The writers Oscar Wilde and Edward Wilde never met, even though they are sitting together on the same bench in Tartu, Estonia. But we can meet! Join us for this second encounter between Estonian and Swedish artists in the gallery of Edward Wilde's Museum.

This well-known gallery is situated in the art district of Stockholm, just a few steps south from the Old Town. The neighbourhood boasts an exciting mixture of art and design galleries, boutiques and second hand shops.
